Microsoft word highliting help?

recently my microsoft word went all freaky. whenever i type something poorly or something like that, i usually highlite what i wrote and then type in the new thing. what usually happens is that the old writing is deleted and the new replaces it. but now it just adds the new and keeps the old.

also, whenever i highlite everything and hit backspace, what i highlited doesnt get deleted.

can someone tell me how to revert it back to normal? it still works in other programs that you can input text (such as internet explorar and search)

plz help, thx

Open Word. On the Tools menu, click Options. On the Edit tab, make sure the checkbox for "Typing replaces selection" is selected.
