Can you use Microsoft Media Player to download songs to The iPod Nano 4GB?

I am thinking about buying the new iPod nano for my sister and she uses microsoft to download everything to everything. this is my reason for asking the question. And also, if she can use the microsoft media player, how would she do it. Would she need her USB cable . please tell me the steps of doing this if it is possible. and another thing, what kind of case should i get her, shes not a "girly Girl" and she like skulls and things from the store "HOT Topic" Does anyone have any kind of store in mind where i can get those kind of cases?
