It sounds like you may have the 'show hidden files' option turned on. If so, open windows explorer from the start menu (not ie explorer) and click on tools/folder options/view and deselect show hidden files.

As for your second question, I think your talking about an animated graphic. When you insert it into PowerPoint it doesn't animate it until you play the show (press F5).

Here's a tip you may not be aware of: if you have a large show and you want to view the show from a particular slide you can do it easily. Press F5 to run the show, type in the slide number that you want to view and press enter. Let's assume you want to start your show at page 10. Press F5 then type 10 and press Enter.

Well i dont think you can upgrade unless u buy the upgrade version of office which i dont really exists. If you install Office 2007 it will keep your old office, so u will have 2 different versions of office. You could just remove the old one first and then install the new one.
When you buy Office 2007, and install, it will automatically upgrade the previous Word, Access, Excel etc. All you have to do is put your Office 2007 cd in your computer and follow the instructions, just like other software.

When it is installed, the previous Office system will be gone, so you will have Word 2007 on your pc.

All of them have sound samples and some have the international phonetic alphabet symbols next to them, so you'll slowly start learning those symbols (even without trying too hard) and soon you'll be able to know how a word is pronounced just by looking at the phonetic transcription in a dictionary. This helped me a lot when I learned english and french and nowadays I speak english without an accent (I grew up in Germany) and I can nearly pronounce any french word I read (even if it's the first time I've come across it and I don't know what it means).

If you purchased it then you need to contact the manufacturer or the retail outlet you purchased it from as you should have received a disk with the product key or documentation with the product key.

The product key on the bottom of the laptop is the OS product key, not the Office product key.

Up to Tools, Letters and Mailings, Labels. Select the size of label, i.e. Avery A4,J8163 would give you 7 x 2 - 14 to a sheet. When you have chosen the size of label, click on the button, New Document. You will then have 14 blank labels in your document ready for you to type in your addresses which you can then save as a normal file so that you can use over and over again.

I just upgraded to IE 7.0.5730.11IC. Whenever I open it, it tries to start Microsoft Money. This is the most common problem and the most known case to me wen I was working for Microsoft Office Tech Support.

All you need to do now is... remove all Office installations from your comp; by all I mean ( your 2007 trail as well as 2002 students and teachers and anyother if exists...)

Once this is done.... insert your Students and teachers 2002 CD... and start the installation.... Once its completed... Browse your START menu... and find ( Generally... the recently installed programs are highlighted in start menu whith other background color. )

You can set up a template letter with all the info on it, save it and use it every time you need to write a new letter to that person.(as the first answer says you will need to save each new letter as something different or you will lose the original). OR you can use a macro. Go to Tools, Macro, record Macro. Then set up a key combination to operate the macro. When you have done that, type out your info where you want it to appear and then stop recording. (small toolbar has the stop button). After that, try it out by opening a new blank document and pressing the keys you set as your combination. Hey Presto, all your info pops up.

The easy answer would be to create the contact info then click on file at the top of the screen, choose "save as", when that window comes up rename the document (maybe the name of the person) and it will save it in "my documents", then each time you want to write to that person click on the "my documents" folder and use that document so you won't have to type it in every time.

If you want to save a copy of the letter when your are done then click on file and choose save as, now rename something else so you don't mess up your original with just the contact info on it. If you don't save your letters when you close the letter it will ask you if you want to save the changes made, click on no.

I have never experienced this and I don't think that you can disabled the new interface (it is called the ribbon interface). The only reason is that you changed your Dislay Settings color to black and white.

I had a co-worker with access to this site upload a file (I was doing it in his office under his login) and it worked fine, so I know the problem does not reside on the secure server.

I presume that if you purchase the Mainconcept DV codec, you can save your file as a "Microsoft AVI" and then choose the Mainconcept codec.

Why it is done in this way I find fairly strange - as it confuses people. Maybe the reason is that choosing any other codec but the DV codec makes Premiere re-encoding the whole project - while when choosing the DV codec is basically mean saving the project (as DV25 is the "native" codec for Premiere).

Chances are you have a blue screen that you aren't seeing that's making your PC reset. Did you just recently install something? If not, it might be a hardware issue, like memory. Try doing an in-place upgrade of XP, put the CD in the drive and boot to it. Skip the first Repair option, and choose the second repair option (the one that doesn't say recovery console). Let it do the repair, see if that fixes the issue. If not, check the hardware, or have someone check it for you, like a repair shop.

Sounds like you're printing in Landscape. You need to change it to Portrait.

Go to Print

Go to Properties

See where it gives you a choice of Landscape or Portrait? Click on Portait.

Barb is correct that you need to make sure you are in potrait mode when you print Word...BUT your printer has buttons on the top with setups...make sure the default setup on your printer is Portrait!

Actually, before checking the portrait/landscape orientation on the printer (which would apply to everything that you print), I'd check the page orientation in the Word document itself.

Go to File --%26gt; Page Setup... I'm guessing that it's setup for landscape. Change it to Portrait and save the document again.

When I try to open Microsoft Word it freezes. When I look at the Task Manager it shows two Word programs "trying" to run even though I only opened it once. I'm trying to decide that myself. The delux version has more planes and more missions, I'm not exactly sure how many more. Check out http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsim... it lists all the differences right here. You also have to think about computer performence. You need a powerful computer with lots of memory for FSX to work good. You also need a DVD drive for it, because the graphics are so good.
The new Flight Sim X does offer much improved graphics over FS 2004, but you need the high-speed computer processor , graphics card, lots of RAM and high-def monitor to make it all work. If you're using an older computer with limited RAM or slow processor speed, then stick with FS2004. You won't really gain anything by upgrading to FSX.
With the PC specifications you got, i say go for the deluxe one and enjoy flying. Its got more aircrafts and missions.

OK. I made a presentation on Microsoft Powerpoint. Then I used the "ink" (not real ink!) during a presentation. After that I saved the ink. Now, I want to get rid of everything I wrote (the mark-up) w/o creating a new presentation. Does anyone know how I can do this?

Yes.

You can click on the ink mark in PowerPoint and then hit the delete key. Obviously this is a pain if you have tons of individual markings. If this is the case, try this:

-Click ctrl+a (this selects everything on the slide)

-Hold down ctrl and click everything on the slide that you DO want to keep (this unselects the stuff you want to keep)

-Click delete (this deletes everything still selected, i.e. the ink)

That should save time because you only have to click on the stuff you want to keep, not every single little ink marking. You will have to do this for each slide. It may take a while, but is probably quicker than recreating the entire presentation.

Sorry, I know this sounds obvious but the out of office assistant only sends a reply to mails you recieve. So the number of emails in your inbox from the time you set out of office until you turned it off is the answer.

MMC snap in failures are usually caused by one of two problems:

1. Corruption of files for snap in. You can try doing a "repair" if you have the XP CDrom after you have tried a "System Restore" located in System tools. You may also try opening a command prompt and type, "chkdsk /f" and then hit enter. Then you respond "Y" enter to the question about do you want to run checkdisk at the startup. This will run check disk which sometimes fixes corruptions/disk errors. Of course, hardware failures such as a defective hard drive will also cause file corruption.

2. Malware. This is the most likely cause of MMC failure. Reformatting and reloading the operating system will delete malware. If you dont have the Windows CD, or even if you do, you can get a superior operating system at www.kubuntu.org and get "Feisty Fawn"

sometimes with windows xp and service pack two it causes games to not run right I had that problem with a game and had to litterly reformat the whole hard drive fresh install XP and service pack 2 along with everything else. My advice to you is go to the website of the company that makes the game and see if this similar problem has happened and what they suggest to fix it. Good luck those aren't fun errors to fix. As for a patch from Microsoft there isn't one that I know of.

I had this problem when running iTunes last week and when we shut down the computer and restarted, everything worked fine. Prior to doing this, I searched using Yahoo and there were a few websites that dealt with this problem. You might want to check them out.

My Microsoft Word 2003 freezes at random times. It could be when I鈥檓 typing opening a Word Document using spell checker. The only time it does freeze is when it is loading. It loads fine but then randomly it will freeze. When left for about a minute it will unfreeze itself but within minutes it will freeze again. It is really starting to annoy me as sometimes it doesn't rectify itself so I lose all my information. As a last resort I will go to deleting registry keys but I really don't want to do that. Here's a trick for you, make sure it's closed theload it into what they call safe mode start%26gt;un and type in winword /a. If it loads properly, rename the normal.dot template (hidden file) and the registry keys and try again, if it still does that update your printer driver, if it still does it update the display drivers. Along with your keyboard drives those are all the things it bypasses in that mode, the problem is one of them, but very rarely is it the keyboard drivers.
Make sure you have all the current updates, becasue that happened to me until I installed all the updates

Recently several of my Microsoft Word documents have not been able to be opened. Their icons on my My Documents folder and such have become semi-transparent and their names have been replaced with other keys (for example, 'Evolution' is now '~$olution'). They cannot be opened and if so, they are opened as word documents with little squares instead of letters.

I have a feeling this might have been caused by my upgrade of Windows Media Player but I can't be sure.

What is the source of the problem and how can I fix it?

Those files aren't your Word documents, but are auxiliary files associated with them. They usually go away when you close the document or exit Word. If you have any files with the .wbk file extension, those are the previous version of that file and should be useable in Word. Change the extension from .wbk to .doc to keep the naming correct.

I have done this before and I used a Text Box to type the tear off phone numbers. Insert a Text Box just a bit wider than one letter. Type the word Phone by pressing the Return button after each letter, followed by the phone number in the same manner. It looks best if you center the text. If you hold the Ctrl. button and select the Text box you can drag and drop as many phone numbers as will fit across the end of the page.

When you have all inserted, turn on the Drawing toolbar and select the first number. Holding the Shift key, click on all the others to select them all. Click on Draw on the Drawing toolbar and choose 'Align or Distribute'. You can choose to align the Tops or Bottoms of the Text boxes. Then go back and choose 'Distribute Horizontally' this will space them all evenly on the page.

you could type it in word-art and then rotate (click %26 drag the little green dot), if you want it normal, but sideways.

you could also go to word-art and choose the one where it actually writes from top to bottom (they're on the right), if you want the letters actually underneath one another.

(however, i wouldn't recommend the second way. It's kind of counter-intuitive and confusing to read.)

More than likely you are a victim of poorly written spyware/malware. Scan your computer and remove all the nasties from it.
