Self taught Microsoft Certified Engineer? online classes?

heres the scenrio--%26gt; a kid says hey i want to make alot of money, i think microsoft is the way to go, ill take cheap online classes just to boost my knowledge in computer networking, 2 months later he finnishes online classes, hey that was fun, i think ill buy a microsoft test, the MCSE test. he takes the test and passes with 100% now he gets the certification in the mail...... he goes to www.monster.com and searches for a job that requires MCSE certification. he finds a job he likes, he calls them, they ask for interview, they see that he is MCSE Certified and hire him at $60,0000 a year! is that kinda how it works?

It could work that way. The comapny will also want to know how he went about getting his MSCE certification and what the name of the school was.

Of course, don't expect 60K with the first job! The guy would need to get some experience in te field so an entry level even for an MSCE would be the first legit offer.

Must be a really smart kid but that's a rare case. Besides certification, they also would like you to have a some experience. But hey, if it worked, more power to him.

lol dream on!

I just have my A+ and Network+ certifications and a degree in Computer Science. Let me tell you without the experience it is just a paper certification. No one will hire a guy for $9/hour with a paper cert without any experience to back it up. I have been there. I got my A+ and Network+ certifications really quick with no experience to back it up, quess what? Employers just saw it as a paper cert and getting a job wasn't any easier with the certifications.
