Transfer a Microsoft Word Macro?

Would someone be able to explain how to copy and import a Microsoft Word macro from one system into another seperate computer system? I copied the macro from the office11 directory on the source system into the office11 on the destination system. However, it does not appear on the menu bar when I start Microsoft Word. If the MS Word Macro is in menu bar, then it is available in Normal.dot.

If you do not wish to have problems the corect way is as follows:

1. Let's call the computer where you currently have the macro ORIGIN and the destination TARGET computers.

2. Create a new document on the ORIGIN computer. Save it with a name of your choice. Let's say DOCMAC.doc. With this document open, go to Tools%26gt;Macros%26gt;Macro... or just hit Alt+F8.

3. A window entitled Macros will popup on your screen.

4. Clic on Organizer...

5. You'll have the Organizer window on the screen.

6. From the scroll down menus above the CLOSE FILE buttons select Normal.dot on the RIGHT side and DOCMAC.doc on the left side menus.

7. Select the macro in the NORMAL.dot that you wish to copy. If you do not know the name, right clic the button on the toolbar which runs it. You'll see its name. After selecting the macro, in the NORMAL.dot pane, hit the COPY button in the middle to have it copied to DOCMAC.doc. You can repeat this for as many macros as you wish to carry.

Currently, I believe they are only available commercially. I have heard that some buisness (obviously a very select few) have already begun using surface. I would really like to see it in action though, I've been interested ever since i heard about surface about a year ago.

Go to http://www.microsoft.com/ and open any inner page. You'll see that the address bar contains something like http://www.microsoft.com/***.mspx. What is .mspx? Any ideas if this is just a mask for .asp? Are they still using the plain old ASP? If it is ASP.NET, why is the ViewState missing?

it might be a mask for (hopefully php) or asp or any thing else even php has an option in php.in file where you could use asp style brackets "%26lt;%" to strat your php code.

I think that ViewState is optional in asp.net which do have security concerns as it is passed on to the client as hidden HTML elements

file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site. Microsoft will not open the file due to potential security problems.

it says to open the file copy it to your machine or an accessible network location. and the only button to click is ok.

Once I click it then it just closes.

Have you tried setting your security settings to low temporarily? Maybe this will allow the file to open. Also, make sure you temporarily allow pop-up blocker. If all else fails, e-mail your professor exactly what you posted here and he/she might be able to help.

download the file..(right click and save as...or if there is no direct link to the file then get help, as some kind of data access might have been set up...)

do your homework...

submit the file after prefixing your name to it...

that way you own up to editing the file and do not modify the source too...
Have you ever used it before if not the person who put it on your computer might have done it wrong or illegally and the file got corrupted or it was illegally installed on you computer...if u have the disk try re-installing.

It depends on what you got on your computer.

Sometimes, computer manufacturers install a trial version of Microsoft Office that works for 90 days. You may have one of those.

However, I have gotten computers from Dell before with MS Office on it. The first time you start the program, it asks for the CD key (which it sounds like you have). That is needed to activate the software. If the software isn't activated within 30 days, it won't work.

Not sure why activation is 30 days but the trial is 90 days. That doesn't make any sense, but that is Microsoft for you.

If I were you, I would contact Dell and tell them your situation. If you should have a valid CD key, they will be able to tell you (and maybe provide you with one that works).

Or you can bypass MS Office entirely and download the free and legal OpenOffice.org from http://www.openoffice.org (which is my office program of choice).

MSOE has something to do with Microsoft's training, I believe. When I followed all your clicks, what I got was my Outlook address book. You may have a trojan or spyware that has invaded your address book. If this just happened, do a system restore to go back to a day or so before this happened. Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools and System Restore. You can only pick a date that is bolded. Let the system restore it's settings, then restart your computer. If this doesn't fix it, then get SpyBot and Ad-Aware from Download.com, install and run both of them.
